The Intel® Xeon® E5-2699 v3 is the best and most performant processor of the Xeon E5 v3 series, released at Sep 8th, 2014. This processor packs a massive 18 cores with a pretty high frequency and support for both DDR3 and DDR4 RAM.
The Xeon E5-2699 v3 is very similar to the OEM E5-2696 v3, with the performance difference being within the margin of error (<=1%).

CPU Thermals
The E5-2699 v3 model is a very demanding and powerful processor, requiring good cooling for both the VRM and the CPU itself. If long-term high usage is planned, make sure to add extra cooling for the VRM to avoid overheating.
